Free Comic Day a Great Success

May 7th, 2011 | Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Traditionally the busiest day of the year at Outer Limits Boro, Free Comic Book Day, on May 7th2011 was no exception to that rule. However, this year’s event was far more special than normal. It was day two in the Grand Re-Opening celebration weekend for the store which had just earlier in the month reopened its doors in its new location at 810 NW Broad St, Suite 248 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in the Jackson Heights Plaza shopping center. This was a great milestone in the come back story of this long time Murfreesboro landmark for known for comics, graphic novels, collectible toys, collectible games and pop culture.

Costumed super heroes added even more color to the already eye popping place and were a great thrill for kids and adults alike.  Special guests; Jason Craig (artist on Wolverine 900, Freddy vs Jason vs Ash, and Grimm Fairy Tales), Melissa Cowan better known as the ‘bicycle zombie’ from AMC’s The Walking Dead television series and Larry Underwood aka the award winning television horror host Dr. Gangrene came and were a big hit with the Outer Limits Legion.  There was a caricature artist doing ‘super heroed’ caricatures of attendees, good food, specials on graphic novels and the like, oh.. and free comics! There was a Thor movie release tie in discount offer that was supported by local theaters. The Outer Limits Legion even got its first look at the brand spanking new web site for Outer Limits Boro.

Overall, it would have been difficult to be more happy given what the Outer Limits Boro family had been through over the previous four months. This occasion said one thing in a very pronounced way. We’re home and we’re here to stay. Congratulations to Outer Limits Boro and the Outer Limits Legion on the wonderful new store that they get to call their come for comics, graphic novels, collectible games, vintage toys and all things science fiction and fantasy culture related.

Local Business Celebrates Relaunch of Outer Limits Boro

May 6th, 2011 | Murfreesboro, Tennessee

On May 6th, 2011, a great day arrived for the Outer Limts Boro family. AT 11:00 AM the Rutherford County Chamber of commerce arrived in force to celebrate the reopening of Outer Limits Boro and cut some red ribbon and kick off the weekend long Grand Re-Opening Event at Outer Limits Boro. Local business folk from all over the community were were in attendance. Mistress of ceremonies Kelli Beam made the occasion bright and special with her warm comments about what she had learned of the history of Outer Limits Boro. When given opportunity to speak, Chuck was nearly overcome with emotion as he talked about the struggle to bring the store back after the fire of January 2011, and gave all glory to God for making it all possible.

Then it was time to cut some ribbon and officially open the doors. After the cutting of the ribbon Chamber diplomats, staff and other local business people made their way back inside for refreshments and conversation. Chamber President Paul Latture among many others congratulated Chuck and the Outer Limits Boro familyon the comeback from the devastating fire of January 2011.

Those in attendance were thrilled with the new store and spoke about it at length. For possibly the first time in many of their lives, they got a true taste of ‘geek chic’. Many were amazed at the vintage comics, suddenly wondering what their old collections might be worth. Several were immediately finding ideas for birthday gifts for the comic book and collectible game lovers in their lives.

And certainly worth mentioning, Chuck wanted to say a special word of thanks to Paulie at Paulie’s Itallian Grill. The new restaurant provided some wonderful catered food to help make the event a very special occasion.  The food was absolutely fantastic and matched the occasion wonderfully. Anyone is encouraged to give them a try. We think Paulies is one of Murfreesboros best kept secrets right now.
